Features of Metropolitan Hamura Kusabana Hills Natural Park

This park encompasses the line of hills rising 200 to 300 m (about 650 to 985 ft.) above the banks of the Tama River, the main peaks of which include Mt. Daicho and Mt. Sengen. This mountain ridge is round, and looks like a thick forest from below. From the top, it affords an unbroken view of the Kanto Plain.

Hamura City Tamagawa Aqueduct and the Tama River area extend over Akiruno City, Fussa City, and Hamura City. The name of the park, Kusabana, is not referring to the Japanese plant of the same name, but is derived from a place in Akiruno City. The center of the park contains steep hills and mountains of 200 to 300 meters (about 650 to 985 feet) such as Mt. Daichozan and Mt. Sengendake. There are hiking trails in the wooded groves. The ridge of the park is circular, and looks like a thick forest when seen from below. From the ridge, you can see amazing views over the Kanto Plain. In spring, stunning cherry blossoms are in bloom around Hamura Weir, the Tamagawa River, and the Tamagawa Aqueduct.
