Features of Mitake and Hinode

Mt. Mitake has an elevation of 929 meters (3,048 feet) and is located at the east entrance of Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park. This mountain, on top of which stands the Musashi-Mitake Shrine, has long been revered as a sacred mountain. From the mountaintop, you can see Mt. Tsukuba, the Boso Peninsula, and, on days when the weather is good, the high-rise buildings in the heart of Tokyo. The rich natural environment of Mt. Mitake has led to it becoming known as a treasure trove of wild birds, insects, and plants, thus making it a great place to enjoy the changes in nature throughout the four seasons. Hear the wild birds sing in the verdant green of spring; cool down in the clear streams and amongst mossy rocks in the summer; listen to the insects as you enjoy the red and gold leaves of the fall; or look up at the multitude of stars that dot the clear night skies of winter. This place overflows with the beauty of nature.
