Accessing Mitake and Hinode

To get to the start of the Mt. Mitake trail, take the Nishi Tokyo Bus from JR Mitake Station for 10 minutes and get off the bus at the last stop, Cable Shita Takimoto Station. This is the start of the Mt. Mitake trail. The cable car to Mitakesan Station takes six minutes. The entrance to the trail is just in front of Takimoto Station. If you are going to climb Mt. Mitake by foot, walk towards the torii (shrine gates) and the small bridge where you will find the entrance to the trail. If you are arriving by car, take the Chuo Expressway and get off at the Hachioji Interchange. Take Route 411 and prefectural routes for 60 minutes to the start of the trail. Mt. Hinode is approximately a 70-minute walk from the cable car station.
